About the libraries in Horsens Kommune
The libraries in Horsens Kommune are public libraries, which means that the library is a free service offered to everyone.
The library in Horsens is the main library, but with branches in Brædstrup, Østbirk, Gedved, Hovedgård, Søvind and Endelave, you have easy access to the libraries’ services in almost all parts of the municipality.
The libraries have differing opening hours, but rules and regulations as well as fees are the same for all the libraries. For opening hours see the back page of this brochure or log on to our website
For the kids!
Borrow children’s books, audio books, movies, PC games and music in many languages.
The library has a section just for children’s literature, games, movies, and music, so bring your child and explore all the possibilities.
Play area and computers for gaming
At the main library in Horsens we have a play area for children filled with toys, which is at your disposal during the library’s opening hours.
The children may also use our computers for gaming.
Events for kids
The library is hosting events for kids – mostly during the school holidays. It may be children’s theater, music or games. The events are in Danish, but most of them can be seen as non-verbal. Follow the library online for information.
Palles Gavebod
www.pallesgavebod.dk is the number one library website for kids (age 8 – 12) in Denmark. Here the kids can learn about books, music, and movies, and there are a lot of fun and games. It is a safe and child friendly website created and hosted by the Danish Libraries.

Do you miss reading newspapers from your home country?
Through Library PressDisplay you can read today’s newspapers from more than 90 countries. If you live in Horsens Kommune and are registered as a library user, you may access Library PressDisplay directly from home. You can access the service here. Need help with finding the right information? – Book a librarian
If you need help finding information, you can book a librarian for half an hour to guide and help you find books, articles, web pages – whatever information you need. To book a librarian please use this form (in Danish) or please ask the library staff for help.
Borrow a computer or log on to our wireless internet for FREE!
At the library you may use the available computers free of charge. You can book a computer at the library. If you need to print, you have to pay for your prints. You may also log on to our free wireless network from your own computer. For help do not hesitate to ask the library staff.
E-books, movies and music for FREE!
The library also makes it easy for you to watch movies, listen to music and read e-books. As a registered library user you may download e-books, movies and music for free via the library’s website, or use your library card number and code on these websites:

How to become a registered library user
To become a registered library user, you have to show up in person at one of the libraries, and ask one of the staff members to register you. You need to show a valid identity card with your CPR-number, preferably your yellow health insurance card.
You can use your health insurance card as your library card, but it is also possible to get a special library card if you prefer. You just have to ask for it. You have to choose a four digit personal code for your library card.
You can start using the libraries’ services immediately after being registered as a library user.
